Vyapata Charaachara Bhaava Visesham,

Chinmayam Ekam Anantam Anaadhim,

Bhairava Natha Anatha Sharanyam,

Twan Maya Chitta Tayaa Hridhi Vandhe.(1)

O Bhairava Natha! You are manifested in all the dynamic moving forms and non--moving objects. That is your significant emotive existence. You are infinite and without any beginning. You give refuge to those, who are helpless and without any support.

I make my obeisance to you in the recesses of my heart.(1)

Tvan Mayam Etad Ashesham Idhaanim,

Bhaati Mama Twad Anugraha Shaktyaa,

Twam Cha Mahesha Sadaiva Mama Atma ,

Swatma Mayam Mama Tena Samastam.(2)

Oh Mahesh! With the grace of thy blessing this whole universe is nothing more than your manifestation. Wherever I see You and my soul is completely full of You. .(2)

Swaatmani Vishwagate twayi Naathe,

Tena Na Samsriti bheeteh kadhaa Asti,

Satswapi Durdhara Dukha Vimoha,

Traasa Vidhaayishu Karma Ganeshu.(3)

In this world You are the Lord of my soul, because of this in my life there is no fear of difficulties and pain, which are the result of this cycle of birth and death. (3)

Antaka Maam Prati Maa Drishyam Enaam,

Krodha Karaala Tamam viddhi deehi,

Shankara Sevana Chinthana Dheero,

Bheeshana Bhairava Shakti Mayosmi. (4)

O Antaka--the Destroyer! Do not look at me with your terrifying eyes. Because, I am always absorbed in the service and devotion of Shankara. That devotion has raised my status to that of Bhairava, which is great energy of creativity, sustenance and absorption. (4)

Itham Upodha Bhavan Maya Samvee,

Dhee Ddhiti dhaaritha Bhoorita Misra,

Mrityu Yamantaka Karma Pishachair,

Naatha Namostu Na Jaathu Vibhomi. (5)

Shankara! This world, is really, your own being.I realized this reality through the Samvit Shakti, which takes me away from ignorance. It is because of that true nature, I am not afraid of any Bhuuta, Pishacha, Mritue and Antaka---the four facets of death.(5)

Prodhita Satya Vibhodha Mareechi,

Prekshita Viswa Padaartha Satatwah,

Bhaava Paraamrita Nirbhara Poorne,

Twayi Aham Aathmani NirvriimAmi. (6)

O Shankara! It is because of your true radiance, that all the objects of the nature and all the elements are set in motion. I myself feel conscious radiance of immortality, which is of course, the Para---the transcendental state of mind, because of this true knowledge of Shiva--consciousness. (6)

Maanasa Gocharam Eti Yadaiva,

Klesha Tanu Taapa Vidhaatri ,

Naatha! Tadaiva Mama Twad Abhedha,

Stotra Paramrita Vrishtir Udheti. (7)

O Lord! When I undergo suffering in my mind and inflaming pain in my body, I immediately feel the cooling effects of the showers of Immortality, which is the non-duality between you and me. (7)

Shankara Satyam Idam Vritta Dhaana,

Snaana Tapo Bhava Taapa Vinaashi,

Taavaka Shastra Paraamrita Chintaa,

Sindhyati Chetasi Nirvritti Dhararaa. (8)

O Shankara! keeping of fasts, charity, to bathing in the holy rivers, austerities, do cleanse the body, is verily, true. But the study & understanding of the Shaivistic scriptures, shower the blessings of immortality, immediately, when a devotee thinks of Shiva.(8)

Nrityati Gaayati Hrishyati Gaadam,

Samvid Iyam Mama Bhairavanatha ,

Tvaam Priyam Aapya Sudarsanam Ekam,

Durlabham Anya Janai Sama Yajnam. (9)

O Bhairava Natha! At times, I dance, I sing, I rejoice within the moments of ecstasy. This is how I feel, what “Samvit” is for me. Because, I see you in close proximity and in blissful radiance in your being. (9)

Vasurasa Paushe , Krishna Dashamyam,

Abhinava gupta Stavam Imam Akarot,

Yena Vibhur Bhavam Maru Santaapam Shamayati Jatiti Janasya dayaalu.10

Abhinagupta compiled this Stotra/ eulogy on the Dashami Tithi /lunar date of the dark fortnight of Pausha month, of the Saptarshi Samvat/ Kashmiri Pandit era 4068, for the benefit of the devotees, which removes all the psycho--physical ailments and sufferings,. It is to find water in the desert. (10)
