KPs term Farooq's Autonomy Statement as absurd Jammu (India) Aug 04, 2010 |
xpressing concern over the deteriorating situation in Kashmir, Kashmiri Pandits have described the recent autonomy demand of former Chief Minister of State Dr. Farooq Abdullah as absurd. The Joint Forum of frontal Kashmiri Pandit organizations in a meeting held today to discuss the statements issued by Dr. Farooq Abdullah in connection with the present strife in the valley of Kashmir, the participants said that such a statement at this time was not the need of the hour. The members expressed surprise and dismay at the statements of Abdullah that the Centre should hold talks for grant of autonomy to the state of Jammu and Kashmir in view of the current strife in the valley. "It is highly surprising at a time when the government is trying to control the situation in Kashmir, Dr. Abdullah has chosen to open a new front," they said and added that he has done so when he is holding a responsible position in the Central Cabinet. The members were unanimous that any arrangement that takes away Kashmir from the constitutional organisation of India is fraught with dangerous consequences. The meeting was among others attended by A.N.Vaishnavi, President-ASKPC, Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, President, Panun Kashmir, H.L.Chatta, General Secreatry-ASKPC, Virender Raina, National Spokesperson and D.N.Kissu, President, ANMCC. The Joint Front conveyed its greetings to Dr. Chetna Vaishnavi who has been chosen as the personality of the year by Dainik Bhasker group. |
