Nadir Monja/Lotus Root Fritter

Nadir Monja/Lotus Root Fritter:

Serving size: 2 people

Ingredients:
  • • 2 long stick of nadeir/lotus root available at oriental stores and Indian stores
  • • 1 cup of to’mul oat/rice flour available at Indian store
  • • 1 tsp.mertschwangan/red chili powder
  • • Pinch of zeur/black or white cumin seed
  • • 1½ cup of water
  • • Vegetable cooking oil for frying
  • • ¼ tsp. of salt or salt to taste
Method:
  • • Peel and cut nadir into 2’’ long thin pieces.
  • • Put pieces of nadir/lotus root, rice flour, salt, cumin seed and chili powder in a bowl.
  • • Mix all together well.
  • • Add water little by little to make thick batter mixed with Nadur.
  • • Heat oil enough to fry, in a frying pan/kadia.
  • • Add battered nadir/lotus root in small portions to hot oil.
  • • Fry both sides until battered nadir/lotus root turns into golden red color and crispy.
  • • Serve nadir mo’nji hot or cold with tea as a snack.
