Medical Camp for Kashmiri Hindu refugees at Purkhoo Camp

hirya Bhatt Mission Hospital and Research Centre Jammu held a mega medical camp in Purkhoo camp on 19.12.2011. It may be mentioned here that 356 migrant families are still living in Purkhoo TRT. The camp was focused for detection and management of diabetes and hypertension patients. A team of medical and para medical staff headed by Dr.K.L.Chowdhury examined 136 patients. 210 persons/patients were first tested for Blood Sugar, Lipid profile etc. The tests were conducted by the by the pathology department of the hospital.
At the conclusion of the camp Dr.K.L.Chowdhury informed that since medical research is a vital ingredient of Shirya Bhatt Mission Hospital, therefore the analysis of data which was collected today will be done by our medical team and the results of the survey will be published in a form of a medical paper. However he expressed the shock over the percentage of detection of the patients for diabetes. He said that there is high ratio diabetes, mal nutritional disorders, hypertension ulcers. He said that the birth rate of K.Ps, is dropping steeply during the last 21 years of displacement. This has lead to shrinking of the Kashmiri Pandit population and should be a great concern to community leaders, social organizations, historians, demographers and medical persona alike. Vir Ji Bhat Gen. Secretary of the hospital said, that the Shirya Bhatt Mission Hospital is providing the medical facilities to the poor and needy people free of cost. During the last 7 years the hospital has provided medical care to over 55,000 patients and held 104 medical camps so far on different diseases. He informed that the hospital is running a patients assistance programme for poor and needy patients who are suffering with chronic diseases. He said the KMECT is facilitating the emergency patients of Jammu through this hospital. R.K.Pandita Manager of the hospital informed that the eminent doctors of the community areproviding free services in the hospital throughout the year. He appealed the patients to avail this opportunity and take maximum advantage of their services through this Mission Hospital. He extended special thanks to Dr.Sanjay Raina (MD), Dr.Pandita and Pharmaceutical companies for their role in organizing this camp. The team which managed the camp was comprising of social activists viz. Tej Krishen, Bal Krishen Raina, J.L.Raina, Chand Ji Kak, Vinod Raina , Ms Krian Ganjoo, Shiban ji, Dilip ji, T.K.Bhat and the members of Purkhoo camp management committee. He informed that the hospital is very shortly going to organize more such camps at Nagrota camp and at Jagti Township. |
