Obdurate china and Obedient India
|
he recent intrusion by China deep into the Ladakh region is the clear indicator of India’s dilapidated diplomatic ties with its potentially strong neighbour’s i.e., China. After the 1962 war was waged against India by Chinese Republic, Chinese mindset has become ultra defensive. As a result, China has systematically strengthened its military infrastructure along LAC (3480km). Their highways and metal roads up to their border positions in comparison to our just 17 strategic roads have still failed to be an eye-opener for our Govt. and other Army big wigs.
With regards to the military preparation, China and India are poles apart. The ongoing standoff in the Depsang Bulge area of eastern Ladakh is the result of ill-preparedness from our side. Many of the border infrastructure developmental projects are stuck for various reasons ranging from environmental and bureaucratic limitations, red-tapism, difficult terrain and of course, inadequate efforts to mobilise resource. Our Army personnel should understand that in our country millions of dollars get bunked away in the pockets of our politicians and scams after scam have become just like a ritual of every month but economic concerns come into play as far as country’s security is concerned. This is the reason of the deplorable condition of our borders. The recent Chinese intrusion of more19 km within the Indian Territory in itself speaks of lot many things. First of all it has come up as a warning signal for bearing consequences if China will be piqued at the borders. Secondly, a clear message for USA, Japan and other economic big Wigs not is at logger heads as it goes to the extent of war on account of its formidable network of infrastructure on and modernised military systems. In the recent case, initially govt. treated the standoff as localised affair but New-Delhi cannot shut its eyes or cannot afford to deny that it was a well planned exercise to prick India. China seems to be infuriated partly by the temporary infrastructure built at Fukche and Chumar points along LAC by the Indian Army. Also, the aggressive patrolling by the Indian troops and repeated air violations by Indian helicopters might have incensed China to insinuate India to retreat back. Although Chinese officials right from the beginning made it quite clear that the face-off at the border can be solved amicably with newly created working mechanism on boundary issues but we need to shed our ostrich like attitude and address comprehensively root causes of these nasty border flare ups, which cannot be brushed inside the carpet. As of now the problem has been resolved amicably and our Foreign Minister has visited China as per the schedule, but one thing every sane citizen of this country will like to ask from our leaders that when our neighbours will stop taking this country for granted with feeble ties that are always at the verge of split and shatter. As regards China its aggressive nature has appeared as big worry not only for the eastern countries but even USA finds it difficult to rein in this ferocious dragon for4 two important reasons first, for super advanced military line-ups and secondly, the growing control of China in the world economy. For India, due to awkward position, with Pakistan always keeping it on tenterhooks by escalating the cross border terrorism or the inhumanly acts like that of recent Sarabjit case and China always looking for ways of intruding Indian borders. The areas like Aksai Chin in J&k and Shaksgan in POK ceded by Pakistan to China in 1963 are actually the part of Indian Territory. China seems to be in perfectly comfortable position but for India, the boundary mess need to be resolved as early as possible, for the sake of its territorial integrity. India needs to beware as China has modified its military and India has failed to streamline even its defence procurements and at the same time inflicted with defence scams. This is not for the first time that China has intruded into Indian Territory and it will continue doing so till countries’ lackadaisical approach will give way to the firm measures to thwart down the enemy. As per the experts, Chinese ambition for territorial claims remains to be obdurate. Even if China has negotiated this time, there is every apprehension that next time they will return with a bang. And that is very dangerous. Leaving aside world economy our country’s more than 20% bilateral trade is with China but watching Chinese aggressive territorial moves. India cannot have meaningful bilateral relationship without settling up the border issues. |
