Candy Land (Part-2)

ike those in other places, we at Candyland too look forward to and celebrate arrival of the New Year. I think that it is because New Year presents an opportunity for a new beginning, thus bringing new hope and excitement.
Every year we have a huge candy display at New Year time. That means that as New Year approaches, I have an opportunity to work overtime and earn extra pay. This year I worked extra hard so that my boss would promote me from Hershey Kisses to Snickers. It has recently been my goal to work in the Snickers department. My dad, my mom, even my grandparents; they all worked with the Snickers sometime. The Snicker workers get the high salary of 100 gumdrops a day. Presently, I only make 50 gumdrops a day. That means that Snicker workers get double my salary. But I really should not be complaining, at least I do not work in the Nerd department. They make a meager 5 gumdrops a day. Cut to the present; this 2009 New Year’s celebration was the best one yet. We had a feast of candy but there was no chocolate. Chocolate is forbidden to eat in a large quantity or when too many people gather. Chocolate is held sacred in Candyland because it is an important part of our land mass. In order to protect our environment, we only want to use up as much as we can create. The punishment for eating chocolate illegally is a 60,000 gumdrop fine. Or you can give 100 square inches of Swiss Chocolate to the treasury. Having Swiss Chocolate is a sign that someone is rich. Anyway, at the feast we scarfed down on licorice, candy canes, lollipops, jelly beans and much more. After the feast we sat down and played a huge game of Bingo. The winner gets 500 gumdrops. This year, I won. After that, different production teams at the factory displayed chocolate art. The teams had invited some of the biggest chocolate art names in Candyland. I was hoping that it would be a success, at least for the Hershey Kisses department, so that I could earn a promotion. I had earlier worked with the artist assigned to the Hershey Kisses department and I could only hope that he would not mess up the presentation piece as he had some of the trial artwork. The artist did a splendid job for which I also got some credit. My boss was so impressed with my work at the Hershey Kisses that he not only promoted me to Snickers but also gave me 10 square inches of Swiss Chocolate. I loved having it as much as I enjoyed sharing it. I cannot wait to hear what mom and dad will have to say about this. This is what I have to say about 2008. All is well that ends well. |
