Candy Land by Arman Koul
Hello my name is Gingerbread Man 14567. I know what you are thinking; you are thinking, that’s a weird name but here in Candyland, all of the natives are gingerbread men and we are named by numbers. But sometimes we get nicknames, like mine is Mike-Ike. Gingerbread men aren’t the only ones who live in Candyland. Many forms of candy have come to settle here as well, who gave our home its name. Some pretenders are also here that try to pass as candy, including those MnM’s. They are not candy but a disgrace to candy. The green one is the most annoying with her bossy attitude. I don’t know what humans see in them. Thankfully they spend most of their time hiding in MnM world. But don’t even get me started about those lollipops. They pester us so much that some Candyland states have even banned them. Anyway, Candyland is located where it is nice and warm. Humans are afraid of coming here, so it is the perfect place. Let me tell you why humans are afraid of coming here. To us what is Candyland, is known as Bermuda Triangle to the humans. Humans are afraid of coming to the Bermuda Triangle and why? So a few people got lost, has it ever occurred to humans that there is a group of living candy having home on an island completely made of candy materials? Let me tell you now that many of the presumed lost, precious, human friends are just basking in the glory of our uncivilized, natural, land made of among other things, the finest chocolate. If humans just used their brains to think laterally it would be obvious to them; why would people go to an area and just vanish? Us gingerbread men have gummy drops for brains and they work perfectly well for all types of thinking. Humans think that just because a few people got lost, something is cursed. I ask them to please think more and differently too. To us candy is not just a tasty treat, it is our life. But humans don’t understand that, do they! All they think about is eating candy. Yet, why do you think that candy doesn’t go extinct? Because candy has a soul that can never die, which regenerates itself and then lives on inside the form of another candy. Let me explain. As one eats it, a candy turns into candy-spirit. This is the highest level of candy a candy can get to. It is the candy-spirit that makes people moan with each bite of the finest candy. Once a candy is fully eaten and fully turned into candy-spirit the soul of the candy is released, which finds home in the body of another candy. To those who did not understand still, I only request you not to eat a candy half because that leaves a candy’s soul trapped for a long time. Candy-spirit fuels so many good actions but humans don’t see that in candy. They even prevent kids from eating enough. But us Gingerbread Men on the other hand, we love and respect candy. I work in the Candyland’s official candy factory. It is my job to make sure that the Hershey Kisses are extra pointy. But if one is not, it is straight to the dungeon for me. I will be packed for human consumption. To Be Continued…
