Dr. Chowdhury, Bimla Raina, Jozeph & Sanjay Dhar Awarded.
Jammu, February 27, 2009

8th death anniversary of Pt. P.L.Handoo was observed in Jammu on February 27th 2009. Tributes were paid to the departed soul in a grand function at Jammu. The function was attended by the august gathering from all walks of life. Among the prominent were Dr.Farooq Abdulla, Ab.Rahim Rather (Finance and parliament affairs Minister J&K),Sharif Din Sharik (M.P.), M.Y.Tarigami (MLA), Vijay Bakaya (NC leader), Mohd.Aslam Goni, Sunil Sethi ,Moti Koul (V.P. BJP Kashmir), Mangatram Sharma (Ex-Dy.CM), Mahboob Beigh (NC). Also the eminent artists, poets, civil servants and many other dignitaries attended the function.

Awards were presented to:

Dr.K.L.Chowdhury for his immense contribution in medical, poetry, literature, as a political thinker and as a social scientist.
Smt. Bimla Raina for her contribution in Walkhs of lal Ded.
Sh.M.H.Zafar for preserving the ancient heritage of Kashmir.
P.K.Jozeph Dhar for his contribution as a educationist and writer.
Sanjay Dhar for his social work.
Bhagwan Gopi Nath trust for its contribution in the field of religion and culture.

Dr.Abdulla and Mr.Rather both declared that the temple bill will be placed in the assembly soon. They also lauded the role of KP's in the nation building. They assured that the KPs will be given their due share in employment etc. Dr.Mehboob Beigh pleaded the cause of KPs very nicely. Sh.P.N.Goja (advocate) spoke about the problems and sufferings of the community in detail.

The Children of Sharika centre of camps sung the sarswati vandna.Sh.Omkarnath shastri recited the shanti path.

The function was organized by PL Handoo Memorial Trust and the programme was compared by PK Jozeph Dhar.
