KASHMIRI PANDIT BIRADARI SAMMELAN Jammu, April 5, 2009 |
Various Kashmiri Pandit Organizations organized a multi dimensional community programme in Abhinav Theater Jammu today. The programme started with a welcome address by Prof. A.N.Sadhu, President Kashmiri Pandit Sabha Jammu. Renowned singers Ms.Deepali Watal and Ms.Harsha Pandita enthralled the audience with their melodious songs. Music of Pt.Kishen Langoo added a flavor. Pt. Moti Koul was felicitated in the function on being elected as the President of All India Kashmiri Samaj, an apex body of 62 units around the globe. Sh. Omkar Nath Shastri Dharm Guru of Kashmiri Pandits Turbanised Sh. Koul in an traditional manner followed by Tilak by Swami Kumar Ji. The main organizers of the programme garlanded him and wished him a success in delivering the duties for the Community upliftment as AIKS president. Prof. A.N.Sadhu assured full support to Sh. Moti Koul from Kashmiri Pandit Sabha Jammu and hoped that community will get a new direction under the guidance of Sh. Moti Koul. |
Address the august gathering Dr. K.L.Chowdhury who presided over the function congrantulated Sh. Koul for his thumping win as AIKS president. Dr. Chowdhury describing Pt. Moti Koul as grass root level leader who bogged down dogmas as a great philanthropist, termed Pt. Koul a great social activist and a political strategist who gave out of way to seek help people in need. Dr. Chowdhury hoped that Pt. Koul will use his expertise in community affairs and will create a team of dedicated, honest and experienced people to take AIKS to new heights. He said that AIKS should now come clearly with new political manifesto for the return and rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits with their rightful place and socio political dispensation in Valley. Dr.Chowdhury warned people against fissiparous tendencies and against some community leaders who go about wearing badges of self righteousness and denigrade everybody else and have assumed the role of moral police. He described them worst than fundamentalists and Jihadis. While speaking on the occasion Sh. Moti Koul declared that AIKS will open a secretariat in Jammu for dealing the day to day problems of the community. In the recently concluded elections of AIKS it was clearly visible from the Pandits that AIKS should take a lead role and go for the Global connectivity of Kashmiri Pandit Diaspora. He assured that AIKS will be built as an institution of faith and trust. He said that AIKS will work on both short term and long term plans. Alleging the State Govt. that hefty amount in crores is being received from the Central Govt. in the name of Kashmiri Pandits but only 30% of it is being spent on them. He demanded that a separate Development board should be constitutedby the Govt. for the relief, rehabilitation, and welfare and over all development of the displaced community. Pt. Koul said that AIKS will constitute a committee that will finalize the return module. Blaming that Kashmiri Pandits since independence have been deprived of political space in the State legislature and Pariliament, he said that Govt. should give legitimate representation and the political space to the Pandits. On the Kashmiri Hindu Shrine bill he said that successive Governments are not serious about it and has adopted dilly dallying approach. Looking on the positive side Pt. Koul said that despite being in exile and facing enormous problems Kashmiri Pandits have established "Kashmir Progressive Chamber of Commerce" (KPCC) that will encourage community entrepreneurs. Sh. R.K.Bhat President YW AIKS while speaking blamed the Govt. for not implementing the Prime Ministers relief and rehabilitation plan in which he had promised to give employment to the thousands of Kashmiri Pandit youths. |
The vote of Thanks was presented by renowned social activist Sh. Vir Ji Bhat. He expressed hope that AIKS will prove unlike other organizations who have demonstrated themselves as paper tigers only. Criticizing other organizations that are dictatorial in nature and structures, Bhat said that at least AIKS is democratically elected body. Sh. A. N. Vashnavi, Sh.Vijay Bakaya & Dr.Ramesh Raina Gen.Secretary AIKS also spoke on the occasion. Various organizational heads and leaders like Sh. A.K.Diwani, Smt.Sheela Handu, Smt.Santosh Koul, D.N.Kissu, B.L.Raina, Ashwani Bhat, M.K.Bhat, Chand Ji Khar, Rakesh Handu, Ramesh Hangloo, P.L.Raina, R.K.Pandita and C.L.Sadhu also felicitated Pt.Moti Koul.
