Photo exhibition in memory of martyr photojournalist
Jammu (India) May 4, 2009

Report and Images by Raman Raina

three-day photo exhibition was declared open this morning at Press Club of Jammu in memory of martyr photojournalist Ashok Sodhi, who got killed while performing his professional duties during an encounter at Samba on May 11, 2008. ’Photo exhibition is the best medium to pay tributes to the martyr and to remember the noble soul, who lived and sacrificed himself for a cause,’’ Channi Anand, a senior photojournalist told. Mr Channi said late Sodhi had always been an inspiration and a ‘guru’ for him. Meanwhile Manu Srivatsa, president Press Club of Jammu expressed that Sodhi always remained dedicated towards profession. As many as fifty photos on different themes and ideas have been put on display during the exhibition. Earlier, hundreds of journalists lit candles to pay tributes to late Ashok Sodhi and observed two-minute silence. Two fidayeens among eight people, including a photojournalist and an army jawan, were killed in an encounter between militants and security forces at Kaili Mandi in Samba district last year.
