SPRING

by Shyan Koul
(Age: 8 years
)

Spring is here!

Birds chirp, perched on leafy trees,
It’s a good time to see Bumble bees

Seeds sprout from the wet brown soil,
New friendships blossom and old friends become loyal

Summer vacation plans,
With lots of tans

Family reunions, get-togethers,
We will see the new baby who’s name is Heather

Spring is here!
It is time to cheer.

This is really a good poem. For such a young poet, it shows a real sense of poetic form, with its use of variation in end rhyme, variation in line length and unintrusive ornamentation. It has sophistication and charm and the photo is very nice too. I feel that a real Kashmiri poet is born.
