Future of Kashmir in limbo
Political leaders from the restive state of Kashmir have been engaged in talks with the Indian government since 2004, providing hope that a peaceful solution can be found to the 17-year-old separatist insurgency which has claimed more than 42,000 lives. They say their ultimate goal is to establish an independent state, but analysts remain skeptical about India’s willingness to relinquish control over the Muslim-majority region. by Agence France-Presse . |
