The PANUN KASHMIR today expressed its profound satisfaction in context of the historic Resolution passed unanimously by the Madhya Pradesh State Assembly regarding Kashmiri Pandit displaced community on July 24, 2009.

Addressing a press conference, Panun Kashmir leaders Dr. Agnishekhar (Convener PK), Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo (President PK) and Prof. M,L,Raina (Chairman PAC) said that while it is a significant milestone in the struggle of Kashmiri Pandits in exile, it also opens new vistas for the onward march of the Kashmiri Pandits in exile and it also opens new vistas for the onward march to the Pashmir Pandits political movement. They expressed their sincere and deep gratitude to the members of the Legislative Assembly of Madhya Pradesh who voted in favour of the historic resolution cutting across the party lines.

The leaders also conveyed their thanks to MP legislator Umashanker Gupta, for moving the Resolution on the appeal and persuasion of PK and MP Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan. With this political resolve of the representatives of the people of Madhya Pradesh, this State has become the first such State to express solidarity, towards the struggle of the displaced Pandits, PK leaders said.

They further said that the help of MP unfolds the commitment of the political class of the State and paves way for the other states to follow suit.

They said that a seven-member delegation which included Dr. Agnishekhar and Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo attended the historic session of the Assembly as special guests.

The Resolution, unambiguously, 'asked the Central Government to consider the resettlement of the displaced community in Kashmir as per the aspirations of the community'. Umashanker Gupta, MLA, while introducing the historic resolution forcefully condemned the acts of genocide and ethnic cleansing against the Kashmiri Pandits in Kashmir leading to their exodus. He gave a detailed account of the continued policy of discrimination and political and administrative apartheid against the community in the State of Jammu and Kashmir.

Dr. Agnishekhar, Convener and Shri Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, President of Panun Kashmir inaugurated the membership drive of the organization at various places.
