Dear Shehjar readers,

When we started our 1st issue in August, 2007, about 2.5 years ago, it was only a dream that we would be coming out with issues regularly month after month with content which would relate to such diverse interests and profiles. Fulfilling your knowledge and informational needs on Kashmir related topics as well as providing you news, views, quality analysis and meaningful entertainment has since been the purpose of our efforts.

We wish to thank you, our readers and writers for bringing us this far, and making it possible for us to keep serving an ever growing readership. Without their untiring efforts, it would not be possible for us to bring issues at regular intervals. A special mention should be made of our writers and volunteers who have supported us and submitted articles to us at regular intervals. Acharya Surinder Gautama, Shri Gopinath Raina, Dr. Chamanlal Raina, Dr. K.L. Chowdhury, Dr. Satish Ganjoo, Shri P.N. Ganjoo, Shri Arun Koul, Shrimati Chandramukhi Ganju, Shrimati Jaya Sibu Raina, Shri Jawaharlal Bhat, Shri B.L. Dhar, Shrimati Bhumika Raina, Shri Chander M. Shehjar E-journal is fully vigilant with the major issues of the KP society in general. Since religion comes under the heading of culture, so the write-ups related to the great mystics and festivals are highlighted keeping in view the present scenario,in the Diaspora. Photo-journalism is highly appreciated.Hindi poems on spirituality also marks a distinction in Shehjar. Your effort in the picture- selection is commendable.

Deepakji is doing a great job by mediating our culture. His work would be cherished in future when it will be history. We can visualize what happened to Kashmir but the challenging job for us is to explore the curvature of multidimensional Kashmir problem with all the objectivity at our command because Kashmiri Pandit signifies our accessibility to knowledge systems that have given us an identity which only our ignorance can snatch away from. Shehjar has become a household name amongst Kashmiri Pandits in a short span of time. It is one of the best gifts to KP community after the forced exodus from the valley. We are always keenly looking forward to read it every month.
