APMCC release historic video CD of Harmukt Ganga Yatra

A video documentary CD on the famous Harmukt Ganga Yatra was today released at a grand function organized at Abhinav Theatre in which prominent journalists and citizens were also conferred with Harmukt Ganga Awards by the All Party Migrant Co-ordination Committee (APMCC) here on Sunday in which Prof Ved Kumari Ghai was the chief guest while Pt Amarnath Vaishnavi was the guest of honour.The video CD, a documentary on the first ever historic yatra organized by the APMCC, the only organization of Kashmiri Pandits dedicated to reopen the closed shrines depicts the natural beauty of the historic Gangbal Lake which used to be the highest pilgrimage for Pandits of yore.

The CD is a first ever attempt of any organization to record the historic significance of the Harmukt Ganga where a mass yatra was organized by APMCC after more than 100 years last year.Speaking on the occasion the chairman of APMCC, Vinod Pandit, who is also member Shri Amarnath Shrine Advisory Board (SASAB), said that his organization would continue its mission of re-opening and reviving the closed temples and shrines in Kashmir adding his every drop of blood has been dedicated for the welfare of the forcibly exiled Kashmiri Pandit Community.

Giving a brief of the forthcoming activities of the APMCC during 2010, Vinod informed that his organization would organize Mahayagya at Vichar Naag, Srinagr, Mahayagya at Paap Haran Naag, Sali, Ananatnag, Annual Harmukt Ganga Yatra, Mahayagya at Sun Temple, Martand, besides National Yoga Samelan at Gosaingund Ashram in Kashmir.Vinod Pandit also appreciated all those Kashmir Pandit leaders and social activists who have been contributing towards the welfare of the community particularly the revival of temples in Kashmir valley.

The Panun Kashmir senior leader Dr Agnishekhar while speaking on the occasion appreciated the role and contribution of APMCC in promoting and reviving age old religio-cultural activities in Kashmir Valley particularly performing of hawans and renovation of many closed temples of KPs.He also complimented Vinod for undertaking the historic pilgrimage to Harmukt Gana adding it would expedite the revival of the temples in Valley

Veteran Journalist Shyam Kaul in his speech hailed the efforts of Vinod Pandit for revival of the temples in Kashmir Valley single handedly even though he has little financial support from the community.Shyam Kaul complimented those philanthropist Pandits who help Vinod in organizing such hawans etc to keep the tradition of 500 year old history alive in Kashmir Valley.Kundan Kashmiri, senior KP leader, social activist and president of Delhi State unit of ASKPC assured APMCC of regular support from his organization in organizing such Mahayagya’s in future and appreciated his resolve to continue the mission inspite of many odds.In his address AN Vaishnavi called upon the community to extend full support to young leaders like Vinod Pandit who are doing a yeoman’s service for the welfare of the community particularly in preservation of the unique culture and tradition of Pandits in Valley He assured his continuous support to APMCC and wished the activists success in every effort for the welfare of the community.In her presidential address Ved Kumari Ghai said that the culture and traditions of Kashmiri Pandits was unique in Hindu Dharma and must be preserved at any cost.She said that Kashmir has a tradition of producing renowned scholars besides having a wealth of historic temples which were either damaged, vandalized or closed due to two decades of turmoil in Valley.She however praised the efforts of Vinod Pandit and APMCC in reviving the tradition and reopening the temples in Kashmir Valley.

Meanwhile those who were conferred with Harmukt Ganga Awards in journalist category for their tremendous contribution to Kashmiri Pandit cause include Dr Arun Joshi, Deputy Editor, Hindustan Times, Abhimanu Sharma, Editor Dainik Jagran, J&K Edition, Arun Sharma, Bureau Chief Indian Express, Habans Nagokey, Group Director JK Channel, Suresh Magotra, Editor-in-Chief The Mandate, Ali Mohamed Sofi, Bureau Chief PTI, Ravish Sharma, Editor-in-Chief The Shadow, Raman Raina, Chief Photographer , Shehjar and The Shadow, Sanjay Khajuria of Times of India, Late Ashok Sodhi and Vijay Bharati, cameraman.

The prominent citizens who were awarded on the occasion include Vijay K Sazawal, senior scientist and International Coordinator, IAKF, IEKF, Washington DC, Kundan Kashmiri, President Delhi Unit of All State Kashmiri Pandit Conference, Mohit Oswal, social activist and MD Roop Automotives Ltd. Haryana, Dr Sameer Kaul, world famous oncologist, Dr RL Bhat, renowned intellectual and writer, ML Dogra, Chairman Bhartiya Lok Kala Sansthan, Dr Usha Kher, Inspector, TK Dhar President Mata
Tripur Sundari Asthapan, Er Tej Bhadur Pandita a social activist and late Kshemender Raina.

In addition Col Gupta, CO 24 RR Kangan, Capt ARS Mann 24 RR and Inspector Afaq SHO Kangan were also conferred with these awards for their best security services during the Harmukt Ganga Ytara in 2009. Saropas were also presented to many prominent social leaders o the occasion. The prominent persons who attended the programme include Ashok Kangan, Hira Lal Bhat, HL Chatta, Moti Lal Kaul, Hira Lal Pandita, ON Shastri, Ashwani Chrangoo, Er. SN Bhat besides large number of Pandits.

Meanwhile JK Kaul Bezaan acted as stage secretary; the docu-film was directed by Ravi Kachroo, Music by Kuldeep Saproo while Sanjeev Kaul, Chairman Political Affairs Committee, Ravinder Pandita, Secretary APMCC, Rakesh Pandita, incharge Kashmir, Mrs Shashi Bharati, Mrs. Kusum Dhar, Sandeep Bhat, Advocate Arun Kandroo Publicity Secretary and Ramesh Kumar Bhat managed the stage.
