Zone 4 celebrated Shivratri on March 12, 2011 at Potomac Community Center. We had 180 plus people (including the kids) compared to around 125 for years past. It was extremely heartening to see that our local community is growing.

The evening started off at around 6.00pm with Social Hour. That gave a chance to everyone to meet, socialize and have some delicious home made snacks of Kababs and Paneer Tikka.

This was followed by Pooja conducted by Ashok Raina. The Pooja decorations were provided and arranged by Praveena Mattoo (as usual). It was amazing to see her dedication and enthusiasm year after year. Ashokji also provided the community with CDs and Shiv Mahima Stotra booklets. That was very well received and appreciated by the community.

Preeti Kachroo organized the Kids show for the second year in running - and what a wonderful show it was. From Classical Indian Dancing to Bollywood dances to Shlokas recitations by some very young ones to even a Karate demonstration. It was wonderful for the community to enjoy some very inspiring and talented kids. The kids were rewarded with Trophies and Certificates. Herath Kharch and the Trophies were awarded by Bakaya uncle.

This was followed by some wonderful, exquisite and authentic Kashmiri Cuisine .

As the evening drew to an end, a lot of the "younger folks" from the community danced to Bollywood music.

This evening could not have been possible without the help from a a lot of community members.
