ashmiri Youth Group (KYG) Presented “Waraya”, a play drawing reflection to earlier times experienced by Kashmiri Hindus. This play is about 3 friends who meet in peculiar circumstances and reminisce about their childhood together in Kashmir, particularly remembering their love for cricket, Kashmiri food and the festivities during Shivratri. Song, bhajan and even a poem are woven into the play giving it the feel of a show.
KYG was started by kids who wanted to make the most out of their time together and decided to write plays. The original script of Waraya is by Arman Koul and the song by Shyan Koul. There was a kid of 5 years in this play and other kids attempted their own compositions of song and music. The average age of the group is about 10 years and they displayed a great deal of maturity and sacrifice to get the play set up. Everyone from the youngest to the oldest member of the group contributed to the success of the play. So, we hope that you will also appreciate their effort while enjoying the play. The parents (Meenakshi-Sudesh Kaul, Seema-Anupam Koul, Arti-Vicky Vaishnavi, Pamma-Arun Koul) created opportunity for the kids to practice together and provided valuable feedback during the limited time that was available to organize the play. It is a splendid play not by kids but by dramatic troupe of KYC.The blend of craze for cricket food and festivities as back in home is quite prefect.Without even rudimentary facilities of stage the impact created is just perfect. All master artists deserve kudos though writer and singer of play deserve no less. The play prompted me to reminisce the crown of Bhatta cuisine The Rogan Josh.
