Mahashraadh at Harmukh Ganga
Gangbal- Kashmir, India, September 14 2013
A five member team of Panun Kashmir under the leadership Convener Dr. Agnishekhar performed ‘Maha Shraadh’ at Gangbal (Kashmir) on this year's "Balidan Diwas" in the sacred memory of hundreds of Kashmiri Hindu martyrs and security personnel who laid down their lives while fighting the Jehadi terrorism in the valley besides thousands of those innocent exiled KPs who died while living ‘akin to genocide life’ in refugee camps in Jammu and elsewhere.

Panun Kashmir acknowledges the exemplary co-operation and support offered by Sh Vinod Pandita, President APMCC and his team for this historic event. Panun Kashmir also expresses it’s deep gratitude to Rashtriya Rifles, CRPF and J&K Police for providing fool-proof security cover to the Yatris.

It has been an age old tradition of Kashmiri Hindus to immerse the ashes of their deceased in the holy waters of Gangbal and perform Shraddh there. Earlier Panun Kashmir had planned in 2006 to perform this ‘Mahashraddha’ in Mattan, Kashmir and due to security concerns and non-cooperation of distt authorities of Anantnag, the proposed venue was shifted to Jia Pota Ghat, Akhnoor where a martyrs memorial was erected on the occasion. During the performance of ‘Mahashraddha’ on the banks of Chandrabhaga, Akhnoor, Panun Kashmir had vowed to perform the final Mahashraddha at Gangbal, Kashmir.

Hence Panun Kashmir team, which included Dr Agnishekhar, Sanjay Dattatrey, Rahul Kaul, Vrushali Kaul and Vithal Chowdhary successfully accomplished the Mahashraddha in the memory of our beloved martyrs.
