"Health Watch" What is Diabetes? Part Two
*Dr. Anu Munshi-Khandhar, MD |
|
n last month’s edition of Shehjar, we discussed what Type I and Type II diabetes are. Now let’s
talk about the diagnosis and prevention of diabetes. As I had mentioned, Type I diabetes requires insulin right away since these patients do not produce any insulin on their own. Therefore, we will mostly concentrate on Type II diabetes this time. You must remember though that untreated or poorly treated diabetes, regardless of type, will lead to many complications and eventually to death. So it is of the utmost importance to follow your doctor’s recommendations.
