LIFE TIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD FOR R.K. MIRAKHUR New Delhi, April 7 2009 |

ife time achievement award for Excellence in Floriculture was awarded to Shri Raj Kumar Mirakhur at a Special function jointly sponsored by the Ministry of Agriculture and Ministry of Commerce, Government of India, at a function in New Delhi. The award was presented by Mr. Nanda Kumar,Union Secretary to Government, Ministry of Agriculture, and Government of India in September 2008. Mr. Mirakhur, after migrating from Kashmir in 1990, established the first Hi-Tech Commercial Rose Project in India for TATA’s in 1991 in Pune. For the first time in the history of Indian Floriculture, roses grown in India were auctioned at the world famous and prestigious Aalsmeer Flower Auction Centre in Holland, thus putting India on the world map of commercial floriculture. There was no looking back for Mr. Mirakhur who followed it by establishing 25 Successful Rose Projects in Maharashtra and one in Nepal. Besides, Mr. Mirakhur was appointed by the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (Government of Maharashtra) for setting up a Floriculture Park near Pune on more than 80 Hectares of Land. After successfully marketing of Cut-roses in Europe it was for the first time that roses from one of his projects were marketed in the most difficult Japanese market in 1995 with excellent realization never heard of before in India. Since then Japan has become the most viable market for Indian roses. One of the projects established by Mr. Mirakhur was declared as the best in India and one of the best in the world by ITC, Geneva, Switzerland in 1995 (Report submitted by Allen Higginsen, UN Consultant on Floriculture to APEDA, Ministry of Commerce, Government of India). Mr. Mirakhur is the recipient of maximum number of awards for excellence in Floriculture. At present, Mr. Mirakhur is the Sole Indian Floriculture Consultant with most successful rose projects in India vis-à-vis Dutch or Israeli Consultants. |

While he was working in Jammu&Kashmir like his other Kashmiri Pandit peers he paled and suffocated under the eclipse of incompetent bosses.After he migrated he unshakled himself and blosemed to his full potential and so was duely recognised.
